Choosing and buying the right pushchair
Buying things for your baby is full of big decisions. Especially the bigger items and one that you will use the most must be your pushchair. It is something that you will use day in and day out and that you will need to rely on to get around.
But how do you make sure that you have chosen and bought the right pushchair? Let us help you.
How will you get around?
Being mobile is ultimately the idea of a pushchair; therefore, you will want to make sure that the one you choose makes this aspect of life all the easier.
If you drive
Then you may want to consider what is known as a “travel system”. This essentially is a pushchair with a Group 0+ car seat that you can simply pop into your car. Then clip onto the pushchair when you need to take it out. Just remember to make sure that the pushchair part fits into the boot of your car when folded down.
For those who rely on public transport
A pushchair that is light and easy to fold is going to be a huge thing to consider. There are several “city” style pushchairs out there that are suitable for birth and allow you to get on and off a bus with your baby.
How long will you use your pushchair for?
One thing that you should look at before buying your pushchair is how long you anticipate using it for. For the most of us, you will want to ensure that you have a pushchair that will take your newborn right up to toddler-dom.
This style of pushchair will often come with a carrycot accessory that you can use during those early days. It can then be converted to suit the needs of a toddler. They may come with the option to reverse the seats and come with other parts that means you can transform it to grow with your child.
How much are you looking to spend?
Buying a pushchair can be costly, especially if you have one that you want to use until your child is too big to use it anymore.
There are some basic models that will cost you less than £100 on amazon. However, if you want one that will really last and be durable, then you may be happy to spend out a bit more money. Remember, accessories, flexibility and the ability to grow with a pushchair will mean that you have to make a bigger investment. But you will be glad that you did spend out. The pushchair in the picture is the Baby Jogger City Mini GT and won Best Buy in Which? magazine.
Planning on some country walks?
If you are the type of person that only lives in the city, then it won’t really matter if you pick a pushchair that has smaller wheels. However, for those families who like to get out and explore the greener parts of the country, you are going to want and need to select an ‘all terrain pushchair’ that is made that little bit sturdier and can withstand being taken off road.
Buying at a nearly new sale
Alternatively, you can buy one at a nearly new sale. Although you may not get the exact one that you want you could save yourself a small fortune. Big-ticket items, such as pushchairs, travel cots and prams are always highly sought after at nearly new markets. As are designer clothes, books, and bedding. So you have to be there early to get those items.
Ultimately, buying a pushchair is really important when you are planning for your baby. You should take your time, look at a few different options that are available to you. You should also make sure that you ask for advice as and when you need it. Remember also, if it means spending a little bit more on equipment that will fit your needs better and last longer then, in the long run, you’ll be saving money!
That way you can be sure that you will have a happy and comfortable baby, while being a happy parent!
