On a wooded hill in North Hertfordshire, in Saxon times a tiny community gathered. They settled on the land where Stevenage now stands. A collection of local people reminisce about life in post-War Stevenage. Stevenage Museum has a large collection of 18,000+ photographs and 10,000+ objects from over the years.
The museum is located below St. Andrew and St. George’s church on St George’s Way.
It is very well signposted from the town centre for pedestrians.
Stevenage Museum events
The museum holds a wide range of events throughout the year for families, children and adults. These are listed in our ‘What’s On’ publication. They are also published in the ‘events’ section on the website.
Recommended parking is in the car parks on St. George’s Way opposite the museum. There is no free parking near the museum other than a disabled parking area on the Church forecourt in Cuttys Lane.

Stevenage Museum is only a 3-minute walk from the town centre. A 5-minute walk from the bus station and a 7-minute walk from the railway station.
Entry to Stevenage Museum is free, however, there may be a small charge for some events.

Stevenage Museum is easily accessible by public transport and there is plenty of parking spaces in the public car parks on St George’s Way.
